Light Spectrum - Range of Electromagnetic Frequencies
This section describes the light spectrum - the frequency range of the electromagnetic wave packets that make up the light.
What Is Light Spectrum? Light, including visible and invisible light, spectrum is the frequency range of the electromagnetic wave packets that make up the light.
The light spectrum we are able to use can be divided into 7 regions:
Spectrum Range Frequency Wavelength
-------------- --------- -------
3 Hz 108 m
Radio Waves ↓ ↑
109 Hz 3×10-1 m
Microwave Radiation ↓ ↑
1012 Hz 3×10-4 m
Infrared Radiation ↓ ↑
4×1014 Hz 7.5×10-7 m
Visible Light ↓ ↑
8×1014 Hz 3.7×10-7 m
Ultraviolet Radiation ↓ ↑
5×1016 Hz 6×10-9 m
X-ray Radiation ↓ ↑
3×1019 Hz 10-12 m
Gamma Radiation ↓ ↑
2×1028 Hz 1.5×10-20 m
The following diagram shows us the light spectrum:
So according to the electromagnetic spectrum, we can actually shake magnet by hand 10 times per second to generate a radio wave with a frequency of 10 Hz.
