Removing Microsoft Office OSA9.exe as a Startup Program
This section provides a tutorial example on how to remove Microsoft Office OSA9.exe as a startup program from the startup folder.
The next startup program to look at is the Microsoft Office OSA9.exe. This startup program comes with the computer system.
Based on the HijackThis report, Microsoft Office installed OSA9.exe as a startup program in the global startup program folder:
O4 - Global Startup: Microsoft Office.lnk = C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\OSA9.EXE
It looks like that OSA9.exe is not running all the time as a background process. It was executed at the system startup time and it then terminated itself later. When I check the current running processes, I don't see OSA9.exe in the list.
Do I need to run OSA9.exe as a startup program? I don't think so. Based on the information on the Internet, OSA9.exe is a process that helps you to launch common Microsoft Office components to help speeding up the launch of Microsoft Office programs. So I am removing quickstart.exe as a startup program.
1. There is no need to end OSA9.exe process, because it is not running.
2. Using Windows Explorer to local the startup up alias: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup\Microsoft Office.
3. Select and delete this alias.
4. Restart the system. Microsoft Office OSA9.exe is not in the startup program list anymore.
