Removing ApacheMonitor.exe as a Startup Program
This section provides a tutorial example on how to remove ApacheMonitor.exe as a startup program from the startup folder.
The first startup program to look at is the ApacheMonitor.exe. I know how I got this startup program installed on my computer. When I installed the Apache Server 2.2.4 sometime ago, the installation wizard automatically installed the ApacheMonitor.exe as a startup program on my computer.
When ApacheMonitor.exe is running, you will see an Apache icon in the
system tray, on the right hand side of the taskbar, as shown in this picture:
Do I need to run ApacheMonitor.exe as a startup program? I don't think so. What ApacheMonitor.exe offers to me is to start and stop the Apache server. I can do this manually without ApacheMonitor.exe.
Based on the HijackThis report, ApacheMonitor.exe is installed in the global startup folder: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup. So I follow these steps to remove it as a startup program:
1. Right mouse click on the ApacheMonitor.exe icon in the taskbar and select Exit to stop this program.
2. Using Windows Explorer to local the startup up alias: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup\Monitor Apache Servers.
3. Select and delete this alias.
4. Restart the system. ApacheMonitor.exe is no longer running. And it is not in the startup program list anymore.
