Windows 7: View Available Restore Points

This section provides a tutorial example on how to review system restore points that are available on Windows 7 system.

A restore point is a backup of system settings only. Application programs and your own personal documents are not included in restore points. By default, Windows 7 system will create restore points automatically whenever an important change is made to the system. But you should review system restore points some times to make sure they are created correctly.

1. Go to "Control Panel\System and Security\System" and click the "System protection" link. You will see the "System Properties" screen open on the "System Protection" tab.

2. Click "System Restore..." button and click "Next". You will see a list restore points listed on the screen.

3. Click "[x] Show more restore points" to see entries.

4. Select a "Automatic Restore Point" and click "Scan for affected programs". Windows 7 shows you what will the impact if you continue restore your system to that restore point.
