HijackThis Configuration Settings
This section provides a tutorial example on how to review and change HijackThis configuration settings on a Windows system.
If you want to change HijackThis default behavior, you need to review and reset its configuration settings.
1. Double click "C:\local\HijackThis\HijackThis.exe".
2. Click the "Open the Misc Tools section" button. You will see the configuration screen with the "Misc Tools" tab open.
3. Click the "Main" tab. You will see a list of default configuration settings:
[ ] Mark everything found for fixing after scan
[x] Make backups before fixing items
[x] Confirm fixing & ignoring of items (safe mode)
[x] Ignore non-standard but safe domains in IE (e.g. msn.com, ...)
[x] Include list of running processes in logfiles
[ ] Do not show intro frame at startup
[ ] Run HijackThis scan at startup and show it when items are found
Below URLs will be used when fixing hijacked/unwanted MSIE pages:
Default Start Page: http://www.msn.com
Default Search Page: http://www.microsoft.com/isapi/redir.dll?...
Default Search Assistant: http://ie.search.msn.com/{SUB_RFC1766}...
Default Search Customize: http://ie.search.msn.com/{SUB_RFC1766}...
4. You should replace all default URLs with http://www.google.com.
