Unicode 6.0 Character Samples
Some samples of characters added in Unicode 6.0 are provided here for the purpose of demonstration or performing browser testing.
5 samples of characters added in Unicode 6.0 standard published in 2011 are listed below with their glyphs, code points, code names and code blocks. If you see nothing or something strange between brackets in "Glyph Browser" column, you know that your browser (and the operating system) does not support this character.
Glyph Glyph Code Code Browser Expected Point Name (⏳) U+23F3 (HOURGLASS WITH FLOWING SAND) Code Block: Miscellaneous Technical (🂮) U+1F0AE (PLAYING CARD KING OF SPADE) Code Block: Playing Cards (😋) U+1F60B (FACE SAVOURING DELICIOUS FOOD) Code Block: Emoticons (🜁) U+1F701 (ALCHEMICAL SYMBOL FOR AIR) Code Block: Alchemical Symbols (𫠝) U+2B81D (A Chinese character) Code Block: CJK Unified Ideographs Extension D
My tests show that Windows 7 supports some Unicode 6.0 characters, like the HOURGLASS WITH FLOWING SAND character and FACE SAVOURING DELICIOUS FOOD character. But many other Unicode 6.0 characters are not supported.
Note that PDF generation tools may support different subsets of Unicode 6.0 characters, depending on which font files are used.
