DVD Video (Movie) File Directory Structure
This section provides information on the file directory structure of a DVD-Video (movie) disc.
Since DVD uses the ISO 9660 file system, contents on a DVD-Video (movie) disc are organized into a file directory structure with single required directory:
\ - Root directory
VIDEO_TS\ - VIDEO Title Set directory
VIDEO_TS.BUP - Back up of VIDEO_TS.IFO
VIDEO_TS.IFO - Information of the first movie segment
VIDEO_TS.VOB - Contents of the first movie segment
VTS_xx_0.BUP - Back up of VTS_xx_0.IFO
VTS_xx_0.IFO - Information of an additional movie segment
VTS_xx_0.VOB - Contents of an additional movie segment: part 1
VTS_xx_1.VOB - Contents of an additional movie segment: part 2
...
Other files and directories may show up on movie DVD discs, like:
\ - Root directory
AUTORUN.INF - Auto-run information telling OS to run some program
dvd-rom.exe - Flash Player 5.0 r30
go.exe - Bar code
AUDIO_TS\ - Audio Title Set directory
... - Audio files. Empty for DVD-Video discs
JACKET_P\ - Directory of still pictures on WB & Sony movie DVD
xxxxxxxx.MP2 - MPEG-2 encoded still picture
