Outdated: Downloading and Installing PHP 5.2.2 for Windows

This section provides a tutorial example on how to download and install the PHP engine 5.2.2 on a Windows system.

1. Go to http://www.php.net, and download PHP 5.2.2 binary for Windows. You will get a file called php-5.0.4-Win32.zip of 9722 KB.

2. Unzip php-5.2.2-Win32.zip to \php directory.

3. Open a command window, and try the following commands:

>\php\php -v
PHP 5.2.2 (cli) (built: May  2 2007 19:18:26)
Copyright (c) 1997-2007 The PHP Group
Zend Engine v2.2.0, Copyright (c) 1998-2007 Zend Technologies

>\php\php-cgi -v
PHP 5.2.2 (cgi-fcgi) (built: May  2 2007 19:18:25)
Copyright (c) 1997-2007 The PHP Group
Zend Engine v2.2.0, Copyright (c) 1998-2007 Zend Technologies

Cool, both Command Line Interface (CLI) and Common Gateway Interface (CGI) of PHP are working!
